Reflection

I felt that our presentation was good as shows all of our different sections and the work we have worked on, something that I would change would to make an actual video as looking at the other videos they all looked interesting to watched and looked like a as good to make, while ours was more on facts which is what the previous presentation have been about and we got the opportunity to be free on this one we should have took up on that offer.
I'm just after looking at the the result that we got and i'm happy with the results in previous presentations when getting a results we would go down the back of the class and talk to Shaun and to hear feedback however during this mission it was graded by rubric system which was interesting however we did not get any feed back which would of been nice to hear back to see what I can improve on for the next time, such as feedback from the last mission i knew that I had to push myself for this mission to get back up to that excellent standard as did in first mission.

To improve our presentation I would have changed my voice record as it was very stop and start which made it not flow properly,we also recorded our voice records separate which also made the flow of the voice over seem incorrect. That day that we were all together we should have done it all together on the same phone however people had re do the information and what was being included, so perhaps we could of met up one more time to do the voice over. Apart from that i felt that our presentation was good and the concept that we done on Christmas as everyone is from different places was interesting to hear. Something else that we could of improved on would be communication as, while I was on my break on work on Sunday I received a text saying that our presentation was not up to standards and that most of it had to be fixed, Rosie was the person to mix the presentation  and by the time I came home from work she had  rearranged and fixed so that it slowed as before she said that it looked like 3 different power points which is what I did not want as would look like we did not meet up at all. However it was fixed in time for the deadline thankfully.

From  doing this mission I have learnt a lot in terms of how digital journalism has changed so much and how technology has such a big part in every ones lives now a days and how printing use to take hours and hours just to print one page but now with technology and machinery it is seconds before a newspaper is made. I have also learnt how important communication is with in a group as if we communicated properly at the start Rosie would not have to try rush to fix it.

Process

In the lab we were given the last topic for our mission, this one had to be a video. I picked Digital Journalism, Rosie also had an interest in this one too so we decided to join a group, Lucine had no group and asked to join our group, we needed an extra person so it suited well. We discussed what we going to do. This mission had to be a video however we had to freedom to have the video on whatever we wanted or weather or not we wanted to be in video and not like the previous ones that we all had to go up and present the video would just play, however people did not have to be in video. We were looking at suggestions on the website to see one of the suggestions was a map of the world ,we decided to include Christmas into our presentation as it is coming up to that time of the year however we did not know how to include it with the maps. While we were talking just thinking of ideas we found out that we were all from different places I’am from Ireland, Rosie is from England and Lucine is from Armenia, and it was here that Rosie had the idea of discovering Christmas in different countries and see how different it is. We then thought of the idea of a voice over of the video. We then decided who was going to look up information of journalism I done printing and how it has changed over the years , Lucine done radio and Rosie done digital  . We then made a slack group chat to discuss when  to meet up next and id any changes had to be made with the power point.

The next time we met up we were not meant to have a lab however we thought it would be a good idea to meet up and try to get it finished. We all had our information done we just had to put it together, however me and Lucine had to cut some of ours so was not full of text and also would not be reading loads out for ages . While me and Lucine was doing that Rosie worked on the map as she was doing that she asked question about what we do on Christmas. I also done my voice over for my part of the presentation.

It was the day that all of the videos were playing and I seen that ours was 19th and I was dreading listing to my own voice, and watching the other videos and seeing the different varieties and how good some where I wanted ours to be just as good.

Digital Journalism

This mission was different the rest as it had to be in video form, looking at the options I didn't understand how would be able to make a video such as  text analysis and networks but this mission was all about to being creative. Hearing that it had to be a video I  thought that we would all have to be in the video thankfully we could do a voice over. As this was our last mission we were able to get into groups with people outside Group 3 ( my group ) however as everyone has labs at different times I was hoping that someone within my group would be interested in the same as me and luckily there was one more person who wanted to do digital journalism. There is a few different reasons why I picked this topic the first is that I looked at the other options and I didn't really understand what it was asking and how we able to include a video to them, and as this was the final mission I wanted it to be good and not feel the way I did with the last one. I also picked it  because journalism has changed so much over time to newspapers and before that until now where news can be seen on the internet.  I was also looking into journalism before to see what it is like as a career and thought by doing this mission that would show me more guidance in the area and if I would like to go into it or not. There was also so many different options of suggestions of what do to within digital journalism on way to include it this was another reason why I picked this topic as would make me think more than the others as the first one I knew that I wanted to do a podcast and with trolling knew that I was going to look up facts on that,however this one was so broad to make anything into a video was almost a challenge as had to have all the facts and information in a video within a certain time frame.
From doing this mission I hope to learn more about Journalism and see if I would like a career in it or not.

Reflection & Feedback

My reflection of this mission is that I'm not happy as we missed out on the end product which is having to make something. I was not as confident with this power-point as I was from the last one as in the last one our group got excellent which was a lot to live up to. While looking at other people’s  presentations I  thought to myself that we were missing a part out as all of the other groups made something such as a You tube video or a blog, while we had nothing only our power-point . It was our time to go up and we all done the slides that we did work on. Not having an end product  I felt that it seemed  shorter than everyone else’s.  Our presentation ended and we went down the back to receive our result, we got told that it was close to unsatisfactory which I disappointed about as I put a lot of work into the presentation.

Working in groups it is also difficult trying to get a time to meet up that suits everyone which is quiet difficult as setting up group chats is okay for some situations but need to meet up in person to go through who is doing what part and if everyone agrees on the same idea or  if people have a better idea.

What I would change in this mission would be to make a product. This could include  hand out surveys to people and see have people been trolled, if so how many times and on what social media Or another could of been making a fake twitter or Intsagram and post something and seeing how long it takes for someone to comment something negative and how many positive and negative  comments on it. This would have tied well into our presentation as we each picked a social media as described in previous blogs, so after each of us talked about ours we could have then had a slide on what social media has the most people trolled on. We also could have used one word and seen how many comment with only one #.This would be the main thing that I would of changed, another may of been more case studies of celebrities and seen if there is any links with celebrities that get trolled for example more men or woman?.

Process

Unlike the last mission we could not pick our groups and we were put into groups with people who liked the same topic, While me and Andy were discussing the topics I knew that we were not talking about the same concept and the meaning behind the word trolling. We discussed what the mission was actually about and  we were both confused as Andy did not know that there was a bad side which I thought was interesting as that's the only side that I knew of  I text Shaun on slack to ask what was  the right one as I did not want to start and I was doing the wrong topic, Shaun got back to say that it was hate and harassment,  We needed another person for our group and Andy said  that Moe had no group and  he was going joined ours which was good as there was only two of us in a group so we needed a third person .We made a group chat to discuss the mission and when we would meet up .

On Tuesday me Andy and Moe went to the library after our photography lecture to work on our presentation, we went through what information should we put into the slides and the order that should go in we also discussed who is going to look up what information We decided that it would be a good idea to pick a celebrity who has been trolled recently I thought that Jesy from Little Mix would be a good one as she made a documentary and is open about trolling.  As the  main target for trolling is on social media, we also thought that it would be good if we all picked one type of social media to research to see how they prevent trolling I picked Instagram as it is the app the I use the most Moe researched Twitter and Andy done Facebook . I’m only typing this now as I have been going to work straight after college. We’re off college today so I’m going to catch up on presentation work I looked into the documentary by watching it again and taking down notes on the bits that I was going to put into the presentation, I also done a slide on why we each picked the topic and wrote my part to it , and a slide on  topics that we will cover.

11-11-2019 Monday again. Today I went to the library after web development lecture, we were not ment to have this lecture but as the graduation was on Friday we had to catch up. I stayed for 2 hours to work on the presentation I fixed any of my parts that I thought could be better and what I have learnt from doing this .
It was our turn to go up for our presentation and again I was nervous even though I talked in front of everyone before from the previous mission, we all read out the slides that we had done and where our names were.

Why I picked trolling

While looking though the different  topics there was only two that stood out for me the most, hate and harassment along side personal data tracking which also seemed interesting as I thought that it would be interesting to do research on who has access to peoples accounts, bank details and  laptops, however I decided to go for online hate and harassment as it is such a big topic now a days with social media, how socail media is very popular and has grown over the last few years how it has pros and cons such as being able to talk to relatives that live away and seeing how they are doing, so for connection purposes however it can have a negative impact which is one that people to see or notice ,how one small comment by a random person can change a persons life . I recently looked at the Jesy Nelson documentary and I thought that it was very interesting as looking at famous or people who are well know their lives seems to be the dream travelling to different places, working and getting paid for what they love to do and some even get free items to promote  however they all do not have the perfect life and how trolls can change that, looking at comments on social  medias such as Twitter and Instagram there is thousands of comments which are mostly positive however there is  always a comment which is not positive and a " troll" picks out something wrong in the tweet or photo and being an another person looking thinking that comment wont bother that person as they are famous and living the luxury life I wanted to see how social medias try to prevent this to make it a more safer place. Also from looking at the documentary she explains how she has posted pictures on her Instagram which looks like she is happy however she is very depressed in them, this is a big problem with social media today that a person may look happy in a picture however no one knows how they feel, and that one comment from a troll would upset them, this is another reason why I picked this topic as I  wanted to see facts on trolling. The word "troll" has also changed a lot over the past few years as a troller use to be a funny meaning and had a positive meaning while now it has a negative meaning, I  wanted to see how the word has developed over the years.

Reflection

I think for a first attempt at the presentations it went well, we were last to go up which was a bit of pressure as after seeing the others and how good they were everyone else power point also had no mistakes or of they did was minor so I didn't want us to have any and to be just as good as the others , however I was confident with the presentation as we put a lot of work into it and wanted to get a good mark .We had to rush the presentation a bit as we went out of time so did not get to hear the podcast .We didn't mess up which I was happy about as me and Ava were quiet nervous Ellen may have been too but she seemed okay which made me question why was I so nervous maybe she was nervous and just didn't want to say so I wouldn't be. Even though our group 3 is only small we all didn't know each other that well and it was also the first time I be doing a presentation and reading out loud to them, I've always hated reading out in front of people if there is 1 person listening or 100 I will be just as nervous so I was proud of myself and the group for the presentation going so smoothly. As a group of people who barley knew each others names at the start, from working in a group together,  I  think that we worked well in a group as working in a new group can be difficult as people can have different opinions and suggestions within a group and everyone thinks that their idea is right, however that did not happen with this group we all cooperated together and let each give their suggestions.
Recording the podcast when someone messed up we guided each other  in the right direction and made sure that we all sounded and was just as good as each other
Getting our feedback we got told that this was the best one out of them all which I was proud hearing that as we put a lot of work into this mission. We then got asked what we think we should get  and we all that satisfactory ,however Shaun thought that our presentation was very good and gave us an excellent which I was happy about as we
One thing that we could have improved on was to be perhaps but small bits of the podcast on each slide so could hear throughout the presentation. We put it into slack so that everyone could hear. Overall i really enjoyed doing this first mission and happy with our result.

Process

In the first lab we had to pick our groups me and Ellen both liked the idea of doing a something to do with digital audio. We decided to do a podcast as we both had an interest in them, so decided to join a group together. However we had to go in group of threes we asked the people who were not in who was the most interested in the mission, Ava got back to us and asked could she join our group
Continuing on from our previous meeting in the lab, me and Ellen met up in the library to keep working on our mission. This will have been the third time that we have meet up this week. Today we went through  what our podcast will be about, we decided to go with the topic of "Stating College" as we did not know each other that well and wanted to see different views of starting college and how felt. We then came up with questions for the podcast, the type of questions we thought of was to find out each others back rounds for example one of the questions was "what did we each do before this year?" which was quiet interesting to see what we done as was all very different answer's., After thinking of the questions we than continued our work on the power point in terms of  saying why we each picked it and our favourite podcast. After a lecture tomorrow me and Ellen will meet up again to try get as much as a group before we work be ourselves over the weekend .
11-10-2019:
Today Ellen and I went to the library again to work on our mission as we had a 3 hour gap from our first lecture at 9-11  until next lecture which isn't until 2. The day is going very slow and dragging at least its Friday. Today we discussed our answers to the questions and the layout which the questions will be asked so that the same topics are followed one after another and not jumping from one topic to another and then back to the first as it will be difficult for the listener to know what we are talking about . We all will work on it over the weekend, I will do my part when come home from work on Saturday and Sunday as in work at 8 tomorrow.
15-10-2019
Today I met up with Ava and Ellen to record our podcast it took us a while as we couldn’t find a quiet place to be able to record it luckily the student council let us into the new SU room as it’s not official open so was quiet in there. We took 2 attempts of records as the first one was a bit stop and start as was just getting use to using voice memo and the flow of the questions  as could hear us with the paper that the questions were on. The second attempt was much better as it flowed more and we remembered the order of the questions so was no interruptions.

 Today we had to present our presentation in front, I don't know why but I was a bit nervous. We were the last group to go. We each presented the parts that had our name on it as it was our own opinion. we practiced who would say what and looked over lines

Why I picked Digital Audio

There was a lot of options such as making a gif or to make a game which sound interesting to make however, I picked this mission as I found  digital audio the most interesting out of all them . I also picked it as digital audio is everywhere such as, sound coming out of the television to the sound from a voice memo on Whatsapp and Snapchat. I wanted to look more into digital audio and see how does the sound come out and how it is actual made, as it is something that people just take for granted and don't know how and think of how the sound  comes out of the radio in the car? or over an intercom in a school or a shop.  On the topic of radio this is also another reason why I picked it as this would be something that I wouldn’t mind going into which has a similar idea to podcast as talking to people. I also have an interest in music and this is another reason why I picked it.  Reading more into the mission and seeing one of the suggestions was being able to make a podcast I had an interest in this as I listen to podcasts  the main one is the IT Galz. Podcast have become very popular over the past few years as there is now a section on Spotify that is specifically just for podcast this has made it easier for  people to listen to them while on walks or out doing the shopping, there is a podcast for everyone as many different genres . Even clothing companies such as Pretty Little Thing have podcast who they talk to models on about their lives.

 I had an interest in making a podcast to see how hard it is as listing to them everything seems to go so smoothly however looking into them and knowing about them a few people pre record them to prevent having any mistakes. It also seems to be very relaxed as don't know who is listening and no one can see you as what look like, that what look like dosnt matter but the talent that they have talking. As I mentioned I would have an interest going into radio and this is one of the reasons as I'm not comfortable talking in front of people but podcast and radio no one can see.

Introducton

My name is Niamh, I’m 19 from Dunboyne, I work in JD sports in Blanch. I done a plc last year in Dunboyne In animal care and realised that it was just not for me, as I’m on the topic of animals I have one dog called bubbles,

I choose this course as I have an interest in photography, and it seemed like a very interesting course. From doing this course I hope to get a job in something to do with photography. I also have an interest in sport and play Gaelic , this is also an option I could look to get a job in something to do with sport. I play Gaelic for St.Peters Dunboyne senior ladies we had our championship final recently and lost against Simonstown.  I enjoy going on adventures and seeing new places and love travelling and going on holidays, I also enjoy going to festivals this year I went to sea sessions in Donegal and Electric Picnic. This was my first year going to both and both were completely different sea sessions was when I first seen it  however it was nothing to EP. I enjoy socialising and getting to meet new people and do things with my friends such as shopping and cinema. It’s difficult to make plans with friends though as everyone is working at different times and in college which is hard. In terms of college it his completely different too school, which is good in a way as its a good change but Im not the biggest fan of change and this was very different to both the plc and school.
